Who we are

A district trust that both serves and publishes

Al-Mansoor Educational and Welfare Trust is a registered non-governmental organisation based in Darbhanga, Bihar. It works at the scale of the neighbourhood and the district — supporting schooling, the welfare of children at risk of labour, and the modest local development work that rarely reaches a headline.

Alongside that welfare mandate the Trust runs a publishing arm. It brings out the quarterly Urdu journal Darbhanga Times together with regional literature, criticism and research writing — work that would otherwise struggle to find a press in Mithila.

The Trust is registered at Darbhanga under registration number 12704 and is led by Dr. Mansoor Khushtar as Chief Functionary and Secretary.

What we do

Six strands of work

The Trust’s activity divides between direct welfare in Darbhanga district and a publishing programme that keeps the region’s Urdu writing in print.

  • Educational Assistance

Support for students and for schooling in and around Darbhanga, so that circumstance is not the reason a child’s education stops.

  • Child Labour Welfare

Welfare programmes for children at risk of, or already drawn into, labour — working with families to return them to the classroom.

  • Community Welfare

Assistance for families across the Trust’s working area, at the level of the neighbourhood rather than the headline.

  • Local Development

Practical, small-scale development work of the kind that measurably improves daily life across the district.

  • Publishing & Literature

Darbhanga Times, the Trust’s quarterly Urdu journal, along with regional literature, criticism and research writing.

  • Cultural Work

Literary and cultural publishing that keeps Urdu writing, poetry and scholarship in public life in Mithila.
